Question by Danielle J: How can we destress and get our sex life back?

My husband and I have been TTC for 13 months now. We are currently going through testing to find out what is wrong. I am only 24 years old and my hubby is 31. We just seem to get so wound up in all the TTC stuff, that we get stressed and seem to not have fun with sex anymore. We used to be able to just get fired up at the drop of a hat, but now, we are always too exhausted and if it is not the "right time" of the month, we seem to not even make the effort anymore. I can understand when I am too tired from work or he is, but it seems like when I want to, he does not, or vice versa. Does anyone have any ideas on how me and hubby can destress and spice up our sex life? We are still TTC, but I think we need to have a little fun with it too!

If I was you, I'd take a few months off. No more TTC until the first of the year (or a date you pick.) Don't worry about when you are ovulating, use condoms if it takes away that stress of TTC. You've been trying a long time and you need time away from TTC. Let yourself be romantic and spontaneous (after you've had a week or two without sex to rest.) Meet him at the door in something sexy, or suprise him with candles and wine. Don't let the idea of a baby be part of it, sex shouldn't be work, and that is what is has become for you. Just be husband and wife for awhile, not two people trying to conceive.

Do you think sex scenes are really necessary?

In movies, television, whatever.

These days, they seem so obligatory. Sometimes, they definitely feel like they were tacked in just for the sake of having a sex scene.

Now, I understand that in advertising and marketing... and in general human nature, sex sells. But must we honestly sacrifice good taste to entertain our primal nature?

Media largely exists for entertainment, but I don't see why that can't be achieved through genuine creativity and intelligence instead of boobs and skin.
