The third page of the Application for Treatment from R.V.Pierce's "The People's Medical Advisor" (1885) has a section specifically "For Gentlemen Only" wherein the man's sexual difficulties are addressed, starting with the probing question of whether he suffers from nocturnal emitions and if he is a frequent masturbator.
